On the evening of Friday, February 21, the San Francisco Bay Area anal cancer community came together at the Pixar Animation Studios campus to enjoy a pre-release screening of the new Disney Pixar film, Onward. Nearly 200 guests turned out in support of the Anal Cancer Foundation (ACF) and the UCSF Anal Neoplasia Clinic, Research and Education (ANCRE) Center.
The evening was important, educational, and impactful – and most of all it was FUN! Every hour someone in the United States is diagnosed with anal cancer. The evening raised awareness and support for the Anal Cancer Foundation and UCSF ANCRE Center to support research and provide urgent resources to patients, families, and the medical community to continue making progress against this disease.
We are so thankful to: Thriver Shannon Nicosia for bringing this incredible opportunity to us; Pixar for hosting such a wonderful event; Joel Palefsky and the ANCRE Center for their exceptional partnership; our generous event sponsors: the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, Atila Biosystems, and the Palefsky-Peacock Family; our incredible volunteers for making the night run smoothly; and all the fabulous participants for coming to learn about and celebrate our work!
In addition to the film screening, guests enjoyed gallery tours, shopping in the Pixar store, amazing silent auction items, a buffet dinner, and a host of photo ops with the characters from Onward, The Incredibles, Toy Story, and many more. Before the movie screening, guests were addressed by Shannon Nicosia (Pixar), Camille Almada (ACF), Joel Palefsky (ANCRE), and Becky Neiman-Cobb (Associate Producer, Onward).
It was a wonderful evening! The Anal Cancer Foundation is incredibly grateful to all who support its effort to end anal cancer and improve the lives of Thrivers and their families! Check out more photos of the event below.
