Based in New York City and London, our dedicated team is working to fulfill our mission of ending HPV and anal cancer!
Who We Are

Justine Almada
Justine Almada is the Executive Director and co-founder of The HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation. Alongside her siblings, Justine started the organization after their loving and incredible mother died from anal cancer in 2010. Justine has since dedicated her life to ending this disease. She achieves this by raising awareness, advocating for prevention, accelerating treatments, and supporting patients. Prior to this position, Justine served as Chief of Staff to a New York City Council Member. In this capacity, she gained extensive knowledge in public policy and budgetary initiatives. She is a graduate of the Wesleyan University and is a Milken Scholar.

David Winterflood
Following a background in sustainable development, David joined the HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation in 2014 and manages the day-to-day operations of the UK arm of the Foundation. He is a graduate of Newcastle University.
David is passionate about the need to extend the vaccination to boys as he believes that by only vaccinating girls we send the wrong message out to people about the human papillomavirus. HPV is not the responsibility of women alone, and by extending the vaccination we make huge strides in reducing human suffering caused by the uncertainty and devastating effects of cancer, in addition to reducing health-care costs in the future.
Outside of the office, David enjoys travel and a range of sports, none of which he has mastered. Highlights include hiking coast to coast through Costa Rica, cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, and most fondly driving an auto-rickshaw from East to West across the Indian sub-continent. He is happy to be alive to tell tales of the latter.

Laura Lazar
Laura graduated with an MPH in sexuality, sexual, and reproductive health from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health in 2015, where she came to ACF as an intern. She currently runs the Foundation’s Peer-to-Peer Support Program and provides broad project management support for its other services and initiatives.
Laura is also a digital communications specialist at the California Prevention Training Center where she plays an integral role in the strategy and execution of the organization’s communications and online education products.
